Treed Squirrels!

Navi has tree-d some squirrels today. She had at least four squirrels angrily chattering at her after she sprinted and sent them all up a tree. There was nothing for them to jump to, so she sat at the bottom staring at them while they chattered up a storm for Tim and Navi to listen to. Navi is pretty much a constant source of torment in these squirrel's lives. Tim and I can't understand why the squirrels haven't moved. Every time we open the door, Navi sprints outside and chases them right back up the tree, and waits at the bottom, drooling! Today, she came really close to snatching one up. We don't know what we'll do if she ever catches one!

You can see one squirrel in this photo looking down at Navi. You can also see the tail of another squirrel almost opposite the first squirrel. One other is a little bit higher than the second squirrel on the other side of the tree, and you can just barely make him out if you look hard. I can't find the last squirrel, but I know he's there.

Sleepy!

Navi didn't want to wake up this morning.

Bowls!

The other day I found these neat bowls at Anthropologie that were surprisingly not expensive. I picked up three; one is white, one is blueish, and one is greenish. They are really cute; the photograph of the gooseberries is in one of the bowls. Here is another photograph of Raisinettes in one of the bowls! Tim really likes raisinettes - I think they're already gone.

Berkeley Bowl West

I went to the new Berkeley Bowl today, which is in West Berkeley and is a lot more accessible. It's a really fantastic grocery store with amazing produce. I was hoping to find sour cherries, but they were out, so I amused myself roaming the aisles looking at all the pretty things. I ended up getting some bing cherries to try making a sweet cherry pie with, and then I chanced upon some cute looking berries called gooseberries! I've never seen or tried these before, so I figured I'd buy a little basket and see how they tasted!

When I got home, I found that the gooseberries look a lot cuter than they taste good, so I put them in a bowl and took photos. They look like little balloons! Too cute.

Then I started making a cherry pie! The cherries looked so pretty! They are covered in sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice in this photo.

I made the dough for the crust, put the cherries inside, and put another layer of dough on top! I used a cookie cutter to cut out a dinosaur, and then put that cutout on top, too! Dinosaur Cherry Pie!

It looked pretty good when it came out of the oven! I wish the edges were a little daintier, but I will get it right with practice!

Too bad Tim doesn't really like pies, because I can never finish them on my own. I need to take them to work or something! None the less, I thought this pie was quite tasty!

Helmet!

We put a helmet on Navi, but she didn't like it very much. I can just imagine her thinking, "Ugh! Humans!"
